Mattaus – Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute & Piano Teacher

Mattaus is a saxophonist, composer and a woodwind and piano teacher with a Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Toronto. He held the lead alto saxophone position in the University of Toronto Jazz Orchestra from 2022 to 2023. From 2017 to 2019 Mattaus was the Musical Director of the IRHS Jazz Orchestra.

Hailing from Oakville, Ontario, Mattaus discovered his love for the saxophone in 7th grade, finding any opportunity he could to learn more about the instrument. He has poured his heart and soul into mastering the saxophone and continued to also learn the clarinet and the flute.

​

Mattaus creates a unique and captivating experience for students to find their own passion for music. He loves teaching and sharing his experience, and is focused on creating a fun, teachable lesson environment for his students. Mattaus has experience with students of all ages and teaches multiple instruments including Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute and Piano at Melody School.

Mattaus has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Terri Lynne Carrington, Rich Brown, Ethan Ardelli, Jon Maharaj, Lorne Lofsky, Andrew Marzatto, Jacob Chung and more.
